How to find the best Talent Manager for YOU?
You have to do the work in researching who you feel resonates most with you.
Remember the reference to ‘best friend’ earlier?
You are looking for your new best friend.
Some talent managers receive up to 300 emails daily from artists who are seeking representation. The likelihood that your email therefore will be opened is so little.
How do you stand out in the crowd?
1. Be specific in who you approach and why (know their clients, their wins, their history)
2. Have the best possible ‘Actors Reel’ (this is the first introduction a talent manager will see and they usually decide to invite you based on the first 10 seconds of said reel – it needs to be very special)
3. Be persistent (remember they are busy and might have missed your emails even)
4. Personal branding (focus specifically here on why they would want to represent you and spend so much of their valuable time and experience on someone like you).
Finding a talent manager is really about doing your homework. Look at other artists you admire not just as individuals but for their choice of roles and trajectory of career.
Great talent managers make great artists even better.
